We just got back from Florida a few days ago – it was such a great time! So today I wanted to round up my must-have diaper bag items that I brought with us everywhere on the trip, from Disney to dinner to the beach. These are items that we have in our diaper bag, the best first aid kit, and go-to on-the-go gear that we have and love!
01 ruvalino diaper bag backpack
We’ve had this diaper bag backpack from Amazon for years and absolutely love it! It has a lot of compartments and comes with a changing pad for on-the-go changes. I like to keep all diaper change necessities in one compartment and extra clothes and snacks in another. Plus, the gray is such a great neutral color!
02 First aid kit
I cannot stress how much we love this first aid kit! It has so many great items and comes in the cutest cloth case. My personal favorite is the fun kids’ bandages and stickers! It also contains various ointment packs to help cover many different possible instances while out and about.
03 waterproof wet bag
I love that this Bumpkins waterproof wet bag is machine washable and a perfect size for travel! It’s great for anything that may get wet/dirty that you would not want to mix with dry/clean items in your bag. It comes in so many other adorable colors/patterns as well!
04 BEAUTYCOUNTER’S MINERAL SUNSCREEN
I love that Beautycounter’s mineral sunscreen is made with safer, cleaner ingredients and protects against UVA, UVB and Blue Light. It contains sustainably-sourced California poppy & is super smooth and easy to rub in! It also is available in a mist and stick.
05 blanket
This aden + anais swaddle blanket is so lightweight and breathable, but also large enough to provide comfort and warmth. I also love using it to block any sun over our stroller or anywhere else the girls may be seated (I even love keeping one of these for each girl in the car, too!)
06 travel tissue
The small travel packs have made these tissues a favorite of mine over the years (since I’ve been carrying them in my purse for years)! You can never to wrong with having tissue on hand.

07 water wipes
A must-have are wipes and these are hands down our favorite ones that we have been using from the start! We love them because they are super gentle and do not contain any questionable ingredients or fragrance. They are perfect to use when wiping hands clean as well!
08 BABIATORS SUNGLASSES
These sunglasses are truly the best! We have had them for years and continue to buy the next size up as the girls grow. We currently have a few of each of the sizes 0-2 and 3-5. The girls love wearing them, too, and have gotten so used to them that they ask for them each time we go outside! We received so many compliments from random passing people while on the trip as well 🙂
09 hand sanitizer
I tried this hand sanitizer years back after finding it at Whole Foods and have been using it ever since. I love that it is made with safer ingredients so I feel comfortable with the kids using it. When we were unable to easily wash hands, this was a perfect option!
10 disposable bags
These mini disposable bags are so convenient to have on hand! They come in a clip on dispenser case for easy storage, and are easy to refill. Just like the blankets, we always keep one of these in the car with us as well. I love that it comes in another color as well for a gender-neutral option!
11 A sweater
I keep a sweater for each of the girls in our bag in case they get cold while out and about! Even though we were in a warmer climate, we used them mainly at the restaurants since they were much cooler.
12 MELISSA AND DOUG WATER WOW! ACTIVITY
I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I always love throwing an activity or two in our bags whenever we are on the go to keep the girls occupied. This has been a favorite of ours for years and so easy to use, without the mess! We used them at the restaurants and on the plane.
Here is a small list of some other general items that we keep in our diaper bag:
- Copy of birth certificates (may need when flying)
- Extra outfits
- Diapers
- Diaper rash cream
- Snacks (for both us & the kids!)
- Seasonal gear (i.e. sun hats or gloves/winter hats)
- Advil
- Hair ties
- General disinfectant spray (travel size – I love using Force of Nature!)
- A few sheets of stickers & folded up paper (easy to pack entertainment)
I hope that this post helped you if you are looking for diaper bag essentials! Most of the items I have linked come in other colors/patterns as well. What are some on-the-go essentials for your little one(s)? I’d love to hear!
