the before

We’re finally starting our living room makeover! I planned on starting this a while ago, but the plans fell through and got pushed back a bit. I am so happy to share that we have officially started and I can’t wait to bring you along on this living room refresh!
My hope is that this makeover will give you the information and inspiration to tackle your own living room, whether it is now or in the future. It has taken us a few years to get around to it, so rest assured it can take some time!
Project Plan
- Get the dimensions of the room to have a good idea about how much space we are working with
- Brainstorm possible layouts of the room
- Think about what pieces we want in the room
- Find some inspiration
Project challenges
The challenges of this project are simply being mindful of the cost and finding things that “work together.” This makeover can very easily exceed budget, so the goal is to look for pieces that are great quality at reasonable price points. One of the main issues that we have is that our room is a bit narrow, so standard rug sizes will not cover a majority of the room. Since we do not want to look into custom rug sizes, we are working with the standard rug sizes and figuring out how to fill the space behind the chairs.
With that in mind, we plan to brainstorm ways to create both a functional and inviting space without having awkward empty space. We may look into a console table to put behind the chairs for now, but eventually down the line we may want to add a larger piece of furniture to fill in the space and make it cozier.
